چکیده
Neonatal Brain abscess is a rare sever neonatal infection requiring careful medical and neurosurgical intervention strategies to reduce morbidity mortality rates. Gram-negative bacterial agents are the most common pathogens involved in brain abscesses of neonates. The use wide spectrum antibiotics combination with drainage larger than 2.5 cm mainstay treatment. Colistin polymyxin antibiotic used treat infections caused by susceptible gram-negative bacteria but limited penetration blood barrier. However, there data on using intraventricular intracranial infections. A 12-day-old male neonate multiple frontal parietal lobes presented. were successfully managed intravenous antimicrobial agents, concurrent administration Interferon-ɣ. Subsequently, he developed ventriculomegaly which was endoscopic third ventriculostomy. He had an acceptable neurologic outcome. Due reduced colistin barrier, its form can be beneficial management abscesses. Concurrent Interferon-ɣ may improve treatment process outcome given that secretion this agent T lymphocytes contribute partial immunodeficiency state at period life.

Endoscopic management of brain abscesses.
BACKGROUND Treatment of brain abscess is still a subject of controversy. Simple therapeutic approaches like twist drill/burr hole aspiration with or without insertion of a drain are also quite effective. There are reports of encouraging results following endoscopic treatment. We are reporting our results of endoscopic approach on 24 patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS This is a prospective study ...

Brain abscess is a dangerous neurological condition with a high mortality when not treated appropriately. In developing countries the incidence and burden of brain abscess is doubled than developed nations. The challenge of diagnosing this condition early on plays a critical role in its progress towards an advanced burden of the disease. Majority of brain abscess presents as a solitary finding,...

We report a case of splenic abscess with multiple brain abscesses caused by Streptococcus intermedius in a healthy young man without any identifiable risk factors, which resolved with percutaneous drainage and antibiotics. Streptococcus intermedius, a member of the Streptococcus anginosus group, is a common commensal organism of the oral cavity and gastrointestinal tract, and it is a known caus...

AIM Brain abscesses continue to pose a problem in paediatric neurosurgery because the associated morbidity and mortality have remained significant throughout the antibiotic and CT era. The objective of this paper is to report the treatment of 28 children with the diagnosis of brain abscess. METHODS We report our experience with the surgical management of brain abscesses in 28 paediatric patie...
